In addition to offering a variety of standard CNC and hydraulic precision boring, facing and turning machines, MAG Powertrain also provides – through an international exchange of data and engineering expertise – an extensive range of custom-designed special way machines. These machines can be designed to perform machining operations on the front or rear and left and right sides of the workpiece, with one, two or three way units.
As an example: Critical operations are performed by three identical "Three-Way" precision boring machines, which simultaneously finish the two bearing bores and the pinion bore on rear wheel drive differential carrier housings. Carriers, with caps installed and torqued, are machined in "car position" to minimize tolerance stacking. By machining all three bores in a single clamping, the MAG Powertrain system is able to meet the customer's extremely tight tolerance specifications for these critical features.
