Non material flow into grooves for lock rings. This avoids additional machining.

Pinion cannot return after rotating by one tooth.
Special Rack
Advantage:
By pinch fit of serration at the entry a clearance fit could be produced. Therefore a pre-centering for assembly of the counter piece could be achieved.
A pinch fit can also be achieved without helical serration. Therefore the contact range of the serration is higher and the wear of the workpart will be minimized in use.
